There are also cases like this, stories in which it is clear that the mass of information, rules and notices that have been relaunched for days still seems insufficient to guide families. A kindergarten in Brianza was warned by parents that their son tested positive only after three days in which the boy had regularly been to school despite symptoms that convinced them to take the test. The result confirmed the Covid infection, but after hours and hours of contact with classmates, all the children and teachers were sent home. Classes suspended, families in quarantine, all invited to go to the Monza hospital to undergo the test. A small disaster discovered on September 9, a week after the start, as the school had left seven days earlier.
Positive, first balance
When the first week of school is over, a first evaluation can be done. The first stories come from Turin to Palermo, the messages of mayors and directors on social networks. Especially the first numbers: 42 positive in Tuscany, 9 in Piedmont, 5 in Milan (and province) and one in Lodi for Lombardy. Twenty are students of a secondary school in the province of Oristano, in Sardinia. But the forced quarantines are also caused by teachers and operators who tested positive at the school that has already started. In Liguria, for now, two teachers and a two-year-old girl have been reported who had attended kindergarten for two days and is now hospitalized in the Gaslini pediatric hospital. Another child, two teachers, a helper and even two cooks end up on the list of those who have to make contact swabs. Four are the positives in Puglia, a school that closed on the first day. Share
Milan is closed
Six students tested positive for swabs yesterday in the Milan metropolitan area, where the youngest are affected. For now, there are no outbreaks but six new cases in six different schools: a child from a kindergarten, 4 children from four kindergartens, a secondary school teacher. All classes involved are isolated, while the lockdown has not been decided for the institution where the teacher was infected.
Piedmont monitors
Piedmont has chosen another path: before closing a classroom or an entire school where a positive case has occurred, it is preferable to monitor the situation. There are nine students who have tested positive so far, four in Turin. A seven-year-old boy showed his first symptoms when leaving yesterday afternoon and his parents took him to one of the “school” hot spots installed in all hospitals to take samples from students. Another boy had a fever measured at school and the family was immediately alerted to come pick him up. At the moment, however, no closings have been decided, neither of the classes nor of an entire school. The hypothesis, for now, is that the infections occurred outside the institutions. Spacing was respected and the mask was used regularly. As long as there are no other cases in the same class, the watchword is strict monitoring. In any case, the follow-up is ongoing. Another group of four students who attended the Galileo Ferraris scientific high school in Turin in class never went there. In the capital there was a first total closure: a small private bilingual nursery sent everyone home. The boy who tested positive had a brother in another class and it was difficult to reconnect. Better to be careful and postpone the departure.
High number in Tuscany
The number of Covid infections in Tuscany is definitely higher: 42 positives have been discovered since Monday the 14th. There were 1640 requests for swabs for children and young people from kindergarten to high school, 640 processed and reported, 309 for children in the range 0-3, 290 for those ages 3-6, 384 for high school. Thirteen of the 42 were considered to have a low viral load and therefore not very contagious. In Lucca, the positivity of a child from the Felice Orsi di Porcari primary school forces 16 classmates, a teacher and a collaborator to quarantine.
