The Secchia flood, which remains under special surveillance, together with the Panaro, is still relevant, although in slow flow. The water level remains high, even if the flood seems to pass without any particular and new criticism. The water outlet is being managed well with the fundamental contribution of the Burana Recovery Consortium, which is channeling the water towards the Torbido canal in a controlled manner, freeing up more and more areas of the Nonantola and Castelfranco Emilia territories.
The most critical situation, obviously, continues to be that of Nonantola, where the authorities appeal to citizens not to leave their homes except in cases of strict necessity.
Regarding assistance to the population, currently 40 citizens are staying in the hotel and 4 Covid-positive people are staying in a dedicated hotel. The Fire Brigade carried out today, Monday, December 7, some 250 interventions (about 1000 evacuees and several operations to bring food and medicine) while more than 40 transports were carried out by Anpas Emilia Romagna personnel. The Veterinary Service also continued with the security of 2 stables and the pets of 6 families who requested help during the flood.
While the rescue operations of the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection continue, around 8:00 p.m. the distribution of food and water will begin in the areas where the most critical problems due to the flooding have been reported. Attention: only food will be brought to the houses, so it is not necessary to go out. For tomorrow, Tuesday, December 8, the extraordinary distribution of bread was scheduled for late in the morning to overcome the problem of the many closed ovens.
With regard to electricity, the situation in the Nonantola industrial estate, currently at full power, has been completely resolved and two cell phone base stations have been reconnected. There are only 400 disconnected users left, always and only in Nonantola (there were 1,800 at the end of the morning).
The most critical situation, obviously, continues to be that of Nonantola, where the authorities appeal to citizens not to leave their homes except in cases of strict necessity.
Through the water outlet in the consortium’s channels, the micro-works to clean streets and houses of waste are gradually activated, defining a correct evacuation route, even in a differentiated way, with the allocation of Cer codes (European catalog of waste). Starting tomorrow, 120 specialized units will be in operation for cleaning houses and streets with the contribution of the Piedmont, Lombardy and Veneto regions.
At the same time as the previously reported changes to the road network, the passage to the Navicello Vecchio bridge will also be opened. Provincial road 255 from the Rabin roundabout to Navicello is now open. In addition, the section from the Navicello bridge to the Modena roundabout will also be opened.
