AGI – Italy in the red zone from December 24 to January 7 to secure the country. This is the indication that the Government has provided to the Regions in the meeting this morning that gave the green light to the vaccination plan.
According to what was reported, Minister Speranza recalled that there were significant results in the Regions that entered the red zone, while the other territories in the yellow zone suffered more. Too dangerous – this is Speranza and Boccia’s reasoning – to stay open during the Christmas holidays.
The president of the Veneto region, Zaia, said he agreed, while some regions like Tuscany have held back. But several governors have stressed – again according to what was reported – that there is also the danger of this weekend, because between Saturday and Sunday Christmas movements and purchases will be concentrated in stores with danger of crowds.
On the other hand, the red zone would now have a more restrictive impact, considering that schools and factories would close. Hence the reasoning of some regional presidents about the need to give the people a break, however, allowing – as President Kompatscher pointed out, for example – at least some walks.
In any case, the invitation to the executive was to decide immediately and provide refreshments as soon as possible for the categories that will be damaged. Some of the presidents do not rule out that on Friday in any case there may be a step by some regions, such as Veneto, towards a high risk of contagion.
The meeting of the heads of delegation of the majority parties in the presence of Prime Minister Conte should start shortly. Italia viva does not participate in the meeting, which in any case has already promised to support the decisions that the executive will make as long as they are clear and understandable.
