Alitalia will no longer fly Malpensa Since the 1st of october. The rumors circulating from airport environments, if confirmed, would represent a historical step for one of the main Italian airports and for the national airline, thus interrupting a history lasting more than 70 years.
The last two flights of the company, which connect the airport in the province of Varese a Rome Fiumicino, will be removed and, as far as is known at this time, not even reprogrammed by Linate. It is the first time since the opening of the Páramos airport in 1948 that the national airline would run out of flights from Malpensa.
So it could be a flight Az01023, which will take off from Malpensa to Fiumicino on September 30, the last of the Italian airline from Lombard airport. The reasons for this choice lie in the impossibility of resuming intercontinental traffic. The connection between the second and the first Italian airports was used mainly as shuttle for passengers coming mainly from New York me Tokyo. But there are also those who point out that it would not be the first time that Alitalia has abolished this type of shuttle between Milan and the capital. Interrupted on January 1, 2017, the connection was reestablished as of April 2018 with four daily flights, then was reduced by half with the crisis caused by the COVID-19. Bitterness among connoisseurs of Malpensa 2000, the new terminal inaugurated in 1998 and which was designed as an operational base for Alitalia and imagined as an intercontinental hub.

we need you.
In these weeks of pandemic, journalists, if we do our job conscientiously, we do a public service. Also for this reason, every day here at ilfattoquotidiano.it we are proud to offer hundreds of new content for free to all citizens: news, exclusive insights, expert interviews, surveys, videos and much more. All this work, however, comes at great financial cost. Advertising, at a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited income. Not in line with the access boom. That is why I ask those who read these lines to support us. Give us a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week, which is essential for our work.
