With the increase in infections, in Great Britain the “rule of six” is activated. Gatherings of more than six people both outdoors and indoors are prohibited in England and Scotland, while the ban is only in effect indoors in Wales. In Northern Ireland, the rule was already imposed on August 24. Gatherings of more than six people are only possible at school, at work, for weddings, funerals, and in the case of sports teams. The new restrictions take effect as the resurgence of infections is worrying.
On September 11, for the first time since March, the R infection reproduction rate went from 1 to 1.2. And on Sunday 3,330 new positive cases were registered, exceeding the threshold of 3,000 infections for the third consecutive day.
Until now in England it was possible to gather up to 30 people, while the guidelines required that a maximum of one family be invited to the house. Anyone who violates the rule of six will pay a fine of £ 100, which will be doubled with each subsequent violation up to a maximum of £ 3,200.
