“Yes to the opening of new hospitals, not to a single centralizing hospital. The contagion curve seems to be slowing down, but the numbers are important and we are preparing for the worst. I understand that it is violence to be torn from something, I regret not being able to find a solution for Camerino immediately, but I am committed to designing a new model of medical care in the Marches that includes you and the mayors. Thus, Governor Francesco Acquaroli, who this afternoon in Camerino, on the first floor of the hospital, addressed the situation of the hospital whose staff was transferred in part to the Covid center in Civitanova.
This led to the closure of the four beds of the intensive care unit with 8 anesthetists and the team of nurses who were transferred to Civitanova. Two more surgeons will be transferred, after the department has already merged with Orthopedics to address staff shortages. In addition, volunteer doctors and nurses have also gone to the Covid center. Regarding the staff, Nadia Storti, director of Asur Marche responded: “We have prevented Camerino from becoming a Covid hospital. We covered the first module with Civitanova with staff from the Civitanova hospital. There will be one shift of staff from all Vast Areas, each for 30 days. Class A cancer interventions, the most serious and urgent, will be guaranteed. Both in Camerino and in all hospitals. Camerino is a hospital of excellence but the problem is the lack of staff, unfortunately I cannot clone doctors ». Storti added: “To date there are 306 patients hospitalized in Marche for Covid, but if the curve continues like this there will be another 180 from November 10 and the situation will be increasingly difficult.”
Acquaroli continued: “The contagion rate went from 1.55 to 1.25. But the numbers are still important. It is a difficult situation. Everyone has to do what they can. I do not judge what happened but politics must give an answer. Yesterday I presented the document for the review of the regional health plan that I hope to do in about a year and a half. In this period I will observe what happens to make an evaluation. I ask for the help of you operators so that what happened in March does not happen again: you cannot take us by surprise, we need an organization, we cannot review the ongoing pandemic plan. We must strengthen local medicine because the pandemic has taught us how important it is to also have hospitals in the area. The fragile and elderly population should not be withdrawn from the reference health centers ”. Regarding the staff of the Covid center, he added: “We could not find additional staff, for now the situation remains. But if it gets worse we will be forced to implement the anti-pandemic plan.
Among those who have been transferred is the resuscitation coordinator of Camerino, Samanta Bartolucci, who for the second time is on the front line. «My mother, my son, tell me: is it your turn again? We were three months in the front line and we still have to sacrifice ourselves. The hospital is regional and there must be staff from all over the region. This is what Storti said then. They present the mayor of Camerino Sandro Sborgia, that of Pieve Torina, Alessandro Gentilucci. The meeting was called by regional councilor Gianluca Pasqui, after the news of the transfer of staff from the Camerino hospital to the Covid center.
