Tragedy in Modugno, in the Bari area. The man was backing down

An 18-month-old Chinese boy died last night after being accidentally hit by his father’s car while backing up.
It happened in a parking lot of the Sp1 in Modugno, in the province of Bari. According to a first reconstruction, based on the family’s account, the boy was in the street behind the car, and the father, who had not realized it, started the engine in reverse and overwhelmed him.
The police, coordinated by the prosecutor on duty Lanfranco Marazia, are trying to find out the dynamics of the events, also verifying the presence of video surveillance cameras that may have immortalized the moment of impact, in addition to the surveys already carried out yesterday afternoon in point. After the accident, in a private car, the boy was transferred to the Giovanni XXIII pediatric hospital in Bari but, as we learned, he arrived already dead. The prosecutor will evaluate in the next few hours whether to arrange the autopsy.
