AVENZA – A violent whirlwind struck yesterday morning, Sunday, in Avenza. The most affected was the area of via Passo della Volpe, where the wind blew open the roofs and sent a large amount of exterior material through the air, eventually damaging some cars. Neighbors in the area say it all happened in a few minutes, around 8 in the morning when, after a night of rain and storms followed by a few hours of rest, an anomalous wind suddenly arose. A storm was felt throughout the neighborhood, but in a few tens of meters it produced the greatest damage: broken tiles, wooden logs, plants and garden equipment washed up everywhere. Fortunately, no one was injured, as, considering the weather and weather conditions, there were no passersby.

The disaster adds to others that have accumulated in recent hours throughout the province of Massa-Carrara, where wind and rain have damaged roofs and caused the collapse of plants on roads and homes. Various interventions by the Fire Department in the municipalities of Massa, Carrara and Montignoso.

In short, a weekend of fear due to bad weather, but also of despair. Like the parents of the two girls aged 3 and 14, who died yesterday morning due to the collapse of a tree in the tent where they slept, at the Verdemare della Partaccia campsite. The Pegasus rescue helicopter, which had been activated, was unable to intervene due to adverse weather conditions, particularly strong wind.
