BASSANO – A young woman died and another was injured today at 12:10 am in a collision between two cars in via Monte Asolone in Bassano del Grappa. Firefighters arrived from the local detachment, secured the vehicles and pulled a 29-year-old Romanian woman from underneath an overturned Ford Fiesta, who after being thrown through the open window was crushed by the car itself.
The woman was sitting behind the Fiesta led by a man, also Romanian, both injured and probably not residents of Italy. The couple had just robbed a 50-year-old man in Viale Venezia: after having seen him, the woman got out of the car, approached and snatched the Rolex from his wrist. Hence the escape. The Romanian couple’s car started suddenly but when it reached via Monte Asolone it collided with the Renault Clio: hence the overturn and the tragic end of the young woman.
The driver of the Renault Clio was injured and was treated by SUEM medical staff to be taken to hospital.
