Li Wenliang, Chinese doctor who discovered the existence of coronavirus, I could receive the Nobel Prize. He was the first to raise the alarm from China, but was silenced and also contracted Covid-19, leading to his death. The proposal to award him the Nobel Prize comes from the Sant’Arpino Municipal Council, which invited ANCI Campania to be the spokesperson for all the municipalities of Campania to support the Chinese doctor’s candidacy.
The proposal is to send a letter to ANCI and deliver it to Italian government to recognize the Chinese doctor who discovered the Coronavirus and raised the alarm and was then arrested, investigated and silenced, before contracting Covid-19 and dying of this disease.
The mayor of Sant’Arpino, Giuseppe Dell’Aversana, through a publication in Facebook, wanted to condemn censorship: “When power cuts through science, there is only harm to all humanity. The young Chinese doctor Li Wenliang had understood that it was a different virus, had perceived that it was a new strain of coronavirus, but the Chinese police jailed him to prevent him from spreading the scientific discovery. Medical treatment slowed down. Those months behind schedule, that censorship of science has been a huge damage to the entire world plagued today by a devastating pandemic. Li Wenliang was released and returned to Wuhan Hospital to treat the sick. He fell ill and died in the field. A modern hero!“
