The Mossos d’Esquadra, the police forces of the Catalan Generalitat, entered the offices of the Blaugrana company
Agents of the Mossos d’Esquadra, the regional police of Catalonia, searched the headquarters of the Barcelona to shed light on Barchagate, the investigation according to which the Blaugrana club used a third company to discredit on social networks those who had opposed the line of former president Josep Maria Bartholomew, including players, like Messi, Xavi and Piqué. The police, the Spanish press reports, have acquired material to clarify the matter. Former President Bartomeu has been arrested.
According to the accusations, the Blaugrana leaders would have taken measures to discredit, receiving harsh attacks, anyone who had turned against them. Even a myth like Messi could not escape this treatment. The investigation is carried out by the investigating judge Alejandra Gil, who has extended procedural secrecy on all documents. The agents, as they did last July, showed up shortly after 9 in the morning at the Barcelona offices at the Camp Nou. All employees were asked to leave their jobs and go outside.
Oscar Grau, the current CEO of Barcelona, Román Gómez Ponti, head of the club’s legal services, and Jaume Mansferrer, who is Bartomeu’s advisor, were also arrested in the operation. Apart from the arrests, as Mundo Deportivo has learned, several Barça executives have been isolated while the police carry out searches. Bartomeu has always denied that the company I3 Ventures hired to control social networks was to discredit someone, but according to investigators there were already “signs of corruption” last September. In fact, Barcelona had paid the club a figure well above the normal value for the requested service, in installments of 200 thousand euros to avoid transparency controls carried out within the same club.
