I’m 10,386 new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday they were +7,351, here the bulletin). Come out so at least 2,739,591 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including those recovered and killed) since the outbreak began. The swabs and the stage
I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 274,019, or 94,741 more than yesterday when it was 179,278. While the positivity rate 3.8% (the approximation of 3.79%): means that of every 100 swabs performed, more than 3, almost 4, were positive; yesterday it was 4.1%. More infections in 24 hours than yesterday, compared to more tampons. Every Tuesday we see an increase in new infections caused by the growth of swabs. Today’s case / evidence ratio is lower than the previous day, reaching 3.8% from 4.1% on Monday, but very close to last Tuesday. From the comparison with last Tuesday when +10,068 cases were reported with a rate of 3.9%, we see that the situation changes little. In the coming days we will better understand the evolution of the scenario. Usually in the middle of the week, from Wednesday to Friday, there is a rise in the curve, as has been the case for the last few weeks. The extension of this rise, less or greater than that of the previous weeks, gives more information. The good news comes from the WHO announcing with a tweet from Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus: the number of cases decreased globally for the fifth week in a row. So far this year, the number of cases reported per week has decreased by almost half, from more than 5 million cases in the week of January 4 to 2.6 million cases in the week of February 8.
There are only two regions with daily cases of more than a thousand: it is Lombardy (+1.696) – who is again the most affected (yesterday it was Emilia-Romagna) – e Campania (+1,135). All other regions have positive two- or three-digit increments, except Molise and Aosta Valley that mark respectively +7 and +4 infected in 24 hours. Veneto performed the most swabs, with more than 35,000 tests found 638 positive.
The victims
The victims increase in 24 hours: they are 336 against 221 (115 more). this is the most dramatic figure. The only region without mourning the Aosta Valley who has not died in two days, while the highest number of deaths in Veneto (+42), Lombardy (+38), Piedmont (+37), Emilia-Romagna (+35), Puglia (+34) and Lazio (+32). The health system
Hospital stays, ordinary and otherwise, are declining after yesterday’s increase. Occupied beds in the ordinary rooms of Covid I’m -52 (yesterday +66), for a total of 18,463 hospitalized. The variation in the number of occupied beds, in critical and non-critical areas, indicates the balance between patients who left and those who entered in the last 24 hours: it does not mean that there are no new hospitalized patients.
