In Italy, at least since the start of the coronavirus epidemic 2,515,507 people (including the recovered and the dead) contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus: i new cases am 14,372, + 0.6% * calculated on the total number of cases (see above) compared to the previous day (yesterday they were +15,204). I KNOW positive current – the subjects who now have the virus – turn out to be in total 474,617 (below the threshold of 500 thousand as of January 23), equal to -3,352 compared to yesterday, -0.7% * (yesterday they were -4.448). There decrease in current positives today – with the minus sign in front – it depends on the cured, added to the deaths, being in greater numbers than in the new cases.
I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 275,179, or 18,591 less than yesterday when it was 293,770. While the positivity rate 5.2% (the approximation of 5.22%): means that of every 100 swabs performed, more than 5 were positive; like yesterday when it was 5.2%.
As of January 15, this percentage of cases / swabs, calculated also counting rapid tests, is therefore lower than that of the bulletins prior to January 15 and it is not possible to make comparisons with the history. Here is the map of contagion in Italy.
Fewer infections in 24 hours than yesterday – when there was the test record since the introduction of the rapid equal to 293,770 – against fewer buffers. The Lombardy the most affected region (+2,603 cases), the only one above 2000. They continue with a four-digit increase: Campania (+1,313), Emilia romagna (+1,265), Lazio (+1,263), Apulia (+1,159) e Piedmont (+1,062). All other regions report a two- or three-digit increase, except Valle d’Aosta which marks +8.
The daily death toll remains dramatic: 492 against 467 yesterday. A still high figure. Only the province of Trento records zero deaths, while the highest number of deaths in Lombardy (+88 deaths), Emilia-Romagna (+56), Veneto (+52), Piedmont (+43) and Lazio (+43). To have more than 30 in mourning are: Sicily (+37), Campania (+35) and Puglia (+34), as shown in the detail below for all regions.
At European level the UK has the highest overall death toll (over 103,000) since the emergency began, behind the US, Brazil, India and Mexico. Immediately after Great Britain, in sixth position, is our country with 87,381 deaths in total. More than 700,000 Europeans have lost their lives to a virus that has had a brutal impact on our economies, our mental health and education, our private and professional lives and our relationships, the WHO director for Europe, Hans Kluge. WHO Europe comprises 53 countries, including the Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The situation of the health system
The pressure on hospitals continues to decrease. Occupied beds in the ordinary rooms of Covid am -383 (yesterday -194), for a total of 20,778 hospitalized. While the number of beds occupied in intensive care (ICU) am -64 (yesterday -20), bringing the total of more seriously ill a 2,288. The variation in the number of occupied beds, in critical and non-critical areas, indicates the balance between patients who left and those who entered in the last 24 hours. THE new additions to IT am +102 (yesterday +115).
Data on those vaccinated
I vaccinated citizens am more than 1.6 million, to be precise 1,653,027. Of these, 338,067 Italians received the second dose, according to data from January 28 provided at 2:01 p.m., as indicated by the continuously updated Covid-19 vaccine report on the government website and available here. According to the Gimbe Foundation report, at this rate and with the delays, only 14% of the population will be vaccinated by the end of April.
