Speed and slippery road surface. Maybe some distraction. The mix cost the sports director dearly Rome Morgan De Sanctis that during the night he was the protagonist of a car accident -on the Cristoforo Colombo road- of which the tracks disappeared almost immediately. Rushed to hospital, De Sanctis underwent delicate surgery for abdominal bleeding, during which his spleen was removed.
But what happened remains a mystery. Someone talks about a collision with another car carrying a boy and his girlfriend (who were unharmed), probably at an intersection. An accident closed in a few minutes by the company that had De Sanctis’ car removed. No trace on the asphalt. But is it possible that no patrol was involved in such a serious accident? Not even the ambulance would have reported the incident to the Gemelli hospital police station, at least since the first findings made yesterday afternoon.
The accident happened after 10 at night near the Aurelian Walls. De Sanctis was heading home from Trigoria. The dynamics, like the exact point of impact, remains unknown. No one from the accident would have called the police, carabinieri or brigade to help. Therefore, no one intervened for the findings, despite the very serious injuries reported by the sports director in the crash that would have involved in addition to the Hyundai supplied by the company, also another car. It is not yet clear whether De Sanctis had buckled his seatbelt at the time of impact, given the serious abdominal injuries reported.
The only certainty is that the impact was violent. The Roma manager managed to call his friend and Roma manager Bruno Conti. Then De Sanctis would have arrived by taxi to the highly armored Villa Stuart where, however, the doctors raised their hands opting for immediate hospitalization in the Gemelli, given the severity of the injuries. In fact, at the clinic, the doctors advised him to go to the emergency room because there could be internal bleeding. De Sanctis reported multiple rib and back fractures. She underwent an operation in which her spleen was removed and her post-traumatic hemorrhage was evacuated. The postoperative period, meanwhile, continues on a regular basis without complications. “De Sanctis – the doctors say – responds well and is conscious”. The destroyed car, on the other hand, was returned to Trigoria.
The coach of Rome Fonseca was among the first to comment: «A sad moment, we hope you return soon. We know the surgery went well. “I send my love and my prayers – wrote former President Pallotta on Twitter – I wish you a speedy and speedy recovery Morgan.” And the news also rebounded abroad during the day. “We learned with regret that our former goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis had an accident – writes Galatasaray -. We send you our best wishes, hoping that you will recover as soon as possible.
