(ANSA) – SAN PAOLO, JAN 05.- The best gunner of all time is me, according to Pelé. In fact, the Brazilian world champion updated his Instagram profile celebrating himself as “The highest scorer of all time (1,238)”.
AO Rei did not like the supposed overtaking of Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 757 goals in official matches with Sunday’s double against Udinese.
Official statistics assigned Pelé 762 official goals: 642 with the Santos jersey, 43 with Cosmos and 77 in the national team. However, a new count would have placed it at 756.
The Brazilian champion, backed by Santos, vindicates the goals scored with the Paulista National Team, with the military and in official friendlies. Which brings it to a record 1,283.
“Messi and Ronaldo still have a long way to go,” jokes sports site Espn, citing Pele’s update on social media. (HANDLE).
