Today, January 4, 2021, Italy is the orange zone, that is, one of those days in which the least restrictive measures are in force among those decided by the government with the decree law of December 18. Tomorrow and Wednesday, January 6, however, the red zone will return, but the government is considering whether to extend the restrictions also to the days of the next weekend from January 9 to 10. The restrictions and rules to contain coronavirus infections during the Christmas and New Year holidays are in effect from December 24 to January 6, and are the result of an overlap of the Prime Minister’s Decree and legislative decrees, which has caused widespread confusion. .
The main difference between the days in which Italy is in the red zone and those in which it is in the orange zone is that in the first case all movements are prohibited, both within and outside the municipality itself. Except for work, health or necessity, and except for those justified by the “visitation exemption”, to go to another home, respecting certain limits. In all these cases, self-certification is required. Today, January 4, under the orange zone regime, you can move freely within your municipality.
On orange days, the general rules remain in force, such as a curfew from 10 to 5 in the morning, while from 5 to 10 at night it is not necessary to motivate movements within your municipality. For trips to other municipalities, as well as from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. even within the municipality itself, it must always be possible to demonstrate that the movement falls within those allowed – for work, health or need reasons – and provide the self-declaration can be done on preprinted forms already supplied to state and local law enforcement.
In the orange zone it is also always allowed to reach second residences if they are in their own region, but to a single family unit, and only from 5 to 22. You can always do sports and physical activity, individually, outdoors and respecting distances . . Masses are celebrated. The bars and restaurants are closed to consumption in the place, but they can carry out take-away food service, always allowed until 10:00 p.m., while home deliveries have no time limit. Instead, the stores are open.

Republic He wrote that at the end of the summit with the regions, on January 3, the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, said that the government is evaluating “the hypothesis for next weekend to apply the red zone measures for holidays and before of vacations, with the protection of the smallest municipalities to travel. ”Among the hypotheses would also be the extension of the prohibition to host more than two people, relatives or friends, excluding those under 14 years of age: a measure which was already provided for in the Christmas decree and which could be extended until January 15.
At the moment there is no definitive news, which should be announced today, but on January 7 and 8 all of Italy should be in the yellow zone, as foreseen in the last decree.
In the orange zone you cannot move between regions, except for reasons of work, health, necessity, but you can always, therefore, also moving between regions, return to your residence, domicile or home. The latter is considered the place where you live “with a certain continuity and stability”: therefore, people who usually live in the same house can meet.
