AGI – Ted Cruz and nine other Republican senators have released a joint note saying that, in the January 6 session, they will not recognize the constituency vote that granted Joe Biden the US presidency.
The ten senators thus join the initiative of colleague Josh Hawley and the appeal of the outgoing president, Donald Trump, who asked his party to openly contest the result of the vote on November 3.
The “rebellious” Republican senators, eleven in total under Hawley, instead go against the direction of Senate Majority Leader ‘Gop’ Mitch McConnell, who asked his people not to support a measure that, by not having the numbers to pass would only result in a split within the party.
In addition to Cruz, the note was signed by Senators James Lankford, Steve Daines, John Kennedy, Marsha Blackburn and Mike Braun and Senators-elect Cynthia M. Lummis, Roger Marshall, Bill Hagerty and Tommy Tuberville.
All 10 members of Congress are calling for the immediate appointment of an electoral commission to conduct a 10-day emergency review of the voting results in the disputed states.

“Once the verification is complete,” the note says, “individual states will have to evaluate the commission’s findings and convene a special legislative session to certify, if necessary, a change in the voting result.”
In the House of Representatives, 140 Republicans would be willing to contest Biden’s victory..
The law states that if a congressman objects to the constituency’s verdict, both houses must argue and then vote on the objection. The January 6 session, which should certify Biden’s election, runs the risk of extending at least until the following day.
The ten senators cited a poll according to which 40% of Americans believe the election was rigged. “Believe it or not our elected officials and journalists, this deep mistrust in our democratic process will not magically disappear,” the note continues, “this should concern us all and represent a constant threat to the legitimacy of any subsequent administration.”
Trump’s election team has submitted dozens of appeals to report an alleged electoral fraud in six states, but the judicial authorities that examined them, including the Supreme Court, found no evidence of irregularities that could affect the electoral result
