LECCE – The positive results reported in the first regional epidemiological bulletin of 2021 are 1,395, compared to 7,045 registered molecular swabs (about 20 percent).

Regarding the data by province, 80 positive results were for residents in the province of Lecce, 564 in the Bari area, 325 in Foggiano, 172 in Tarantino, 155 in the province of Brindisi and 93 in Bat ( 3 for residents outside the region and as yet to be attributed).

In 2012 we start again with these accumulated incidence values for each province (number of confirmed cases per 10,000 inhabitants, since the beginning of the epidemic): Lecce 90.2; Brindisi 169.4; Taranto 195.7; Bat 271.6; Bari 285.1; Foggia 326.9. The regional average is 229.8. Salento’s is the lowest among those registered in the entire country, except for the province of Agrigento, which is just below.

Another slight downward adjustment for the number of beds occupied in Apulian hospitals, which went from 1,619 to 1,613, while the increase in those cured was 475 units. Nine deaths were recorded, of which 2 related to Salento: however, the figure seems clearly insufficient compared to the average and this may be due to the delay in registrations near the holidays. The currently positive cases in Apulia are therefore 53,913 (911 more than the previous figure).
