A really important sign: Professor Andrea Crisanti has decided to get vaccinated against Covid-19 during the direct Facebook of the Hospital of Padua.

Andrea Crisanti

Professor Crisanti explains: ‘I would have preferred a more sober’ ceremony ‘, but I realize that the moment is special and that perhaps a few words are necessary to explain what we are doing. As you know in the past, I said that I was waiting for scientific information before getting vaccinated, and I clarify that I have never been against it, but I believe that initially there was a transparency problem that was resolved with the public exchange of data to the scientific community and the population. We are facing a turning point, the vaccine is safe. Someone may develop arm pain, fever, or allergic reactions after the vaccine, but I want to reassure everyone: I am allergic, but I do. We all hope that there is maximum adherence because it is essential to block the transmission.

Dr. Daniele Donato, General and Health Director of the Padua Hospital, adds: “At the moment we have 263 active beds, of which 53 are in intensive care and 42 in semi-intensive care. Therefore, we can take care of patients, and in the last days we have found a stabilization with respect to hospitalizations. The emergency room sees the possibility of admitting patients with calm and serenity. Regarding vaccines, we are entitled to 9,250 doses dedicated to our staff, including fellows. The fundamental criterion is that of chronological age. Between 27 and 31,180 people were vaccinated, and today we will vaccinate another 500. Each week the Region will deliver 1,250 to 1,300 doses to us, and the current membership will allow us to use all the doses within our reach. The operators involved in the assistance to Covid are more than a thousand and those of the hospital that will be vaccinated in total are more than 8,000 ”.
