In Campania there are 1,734 new positives (of which 1,531 asymptomatic and 203 symptomatic), emerged from the 20,458 swabs analyzed yesterday, December 31. Those infected in Campania since the beginning of the epidemic are, therefore, 191,407 (and 2,055,822 the number of swabs analyzed in the regional structures since the beginning of the year). In the last hours there has also been the cure of 641 people (in total 110,215) and the death of 20 Covid patients (3 in the last 48 hours and 17 previously but registered yesterday, a total of 2,864). The data is contained in the regional bulletin of the Crisis Unit of the Campania Region, published as usual in the afternoon, and refers to midnight the day before.
Regarding the situation of hospitals, the bulletin indicates that there are 1,359 (+34) hospitalized patients (+34), out of a total offer of 3,160 dedicated Covid beds, between public and private. In intensive care there are 104 hospitalized people (-9, compared to 656 intensive care places available for all pathologies). The positives are currently 78,328 (+1073) and of these 76,865 (+1,048) are in fiduciary home isolation.
Yesterday the new positives were 1,554, much more than the previous day (930) but the number of swabs analyzed had also increased significantly: 19,003 compared to 11,985; therefore, the percentage of positives had increased slightly (8.18% versus 7.76%). The highest percentage was relative to December 27: 9.31%, or 433 positives out of 4,650 swabs. The one registered with today’s positives is 8.48%.
Yesterday began phase 2 of the Covid vaccination campaign in Campania, dedicated mainly to health personnel, with the 35,000 doses arriving on the morning of December 30 at the Capodichino airport and destined, in addition to the 27 vaccination points in the region , also to Basilicata and Puglia. On January 7, however, the administrations in the center installed in the Mostra d’Oltremare, in Naples: the goal is to vaccinate between 300,000 and 400,000 people by the end of spring.
Covid Naples, 840 new positives in 3 days
The Naples City Council has published the newsletter related to the city. There are currently 13,454 positives among residents, of whom 376 are hospitalized (including 30 in Intensive Care) and 13,078 in home isolation. The deceased are a total of 843. In total, 36,600 people are infected in Naples, 814 more than Wednesday, December 30, when the previous newsletter was published. The next update will take place on Monday, January 4, 2021.
