The Christmas decree provides valid measures until January 6. Starting at 7, therefore, Italy will return to the diversified system between the red, orange and yellow zones. The subdivision of the regions will come based on the data that in the coming days will be provided by the control room for regional monitoring and evaluated by the government, until the launch of the ordinances. The latest ISS report highlighted the rise in the Rt index to 0.93.
The Calabria, Liguria and Veneto Regions have a punctual Rt compatible with a type 2 scenario in the coronavirus epidemic in Italy. This is of particular concern and we therefore urge you to consider applying the planned measures, for the attributed risk levels, also at the end of these holidays.
“Our Rt, the contagion index – said the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti on Friday night – travels between 1 and 1.07 according to the Istituto Superiore di Sanità. We are essentially stable, but the combination of all our parameters, including the drop in hospital beds occupied by covid patients, frames our region within a moderate risk area. Based on this we would be in the yellow band, after which all this will be evaluated in the next few hours together with the ministry technicians.
“In the emergency – Toti said – even on the first day of the year, the Ligurian health machine is in action. Today is the first day of work for the new health leaders. A good opportunity to wish them a good job. I know that I am in full swing for the work to continue in all our hospitals.
“As for vaccines – Toti continued – we are still vaccinating today and tomorrow all administration sites will be active again. In Liguria, according to data from the national report, more than 7% of the vaccines that arrived have already been administered, while data from Imperia are still lacking, bringing the administration figure to 9%. However, we are among the six main Italian regions in terms of inoculated vaccines. On Monday we should receive an additional amount of vaccines and we will continue on this path.
Going back to the opening speech and hoping to understand if Liguria will be yellow or orange, let’s see what are the rules that we will have to adapt to as of January 7:
- curfew and obligation to wear a mask indoors and outdoors and to maintain a distance of at least one meter; assembly ban;
- bars and restaurants open until 6 pm with a maximum of four people at the table and wearing a mask when not eating; take-out and home delivery allowed;
- bus and subway capacity remains fixed at 50 percent and there are no plans to increase seats after January 15.
The reopening of the ski slopes on January 7 has been skipped, while the Ministry of Sports is evaluating the possibility of reopening gyms and swimming pools from 3 p.m., but with individual use. Museums are moving toward reopening with limited tickets. For the school the date set is January 7, but with modalities to be defined.
Meanwhile, until January 7, we will have to follow the calendar set by the Christmas decree. Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 January Italy is in the red zone and, in addition to the curfew between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., trips are only allowed for work, necessity and health reasons and must be included in the necessary self-certification. It is possible, once a day, to travel to visit family or friends, even to other Municipalities, but always and only within the same Region and within the maximum limit of two people. Self-certification should always be with you for trips and visits to family members. The veracity of self-declarations will be subject to subsequent controls and the proven falsehood of what is declared as a crime.
On Monday, January 4, Italy will return to the orange zone for 24 hours. The curfew is maintained between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., but you can move freely within your municipality, without self-certification, and you can move from small municipalities with less than 5000 inhabitants and within 30 kilometers, even if this means leaving your region. However, it is still forbidden to travel to the provincial capitals: consequently, it will also be possible to visit friends and family “within these hours and territorial spaces”, as the government explains in the Faq.
