Thanks also to the curfew due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the New Year’s toll in Naples and its province registers the lowest number of injured in history: the provisional toll speaks of only eight injured, a figure almost nil compared to the from previous years. Between eight injured no one is in danger of death: the most serious case concerns a woman who was injured by a metal splinter, but whose condition is good.

The story happened to Mugnano of Naples: the woman was on the street to take out the garbage, when a splinter of cast iron I reach it, wounding her in the nose. It was originally thought to be a stray bullet, but later X-rays showed it to be more of a 17mm sliver of metal, too large to be a shot. However, the woman is saved by a miracle: if he had hit her elsewhere on the head, it could have had much more serious consequences. The other hospitalized patient is a 57-year-old man, who instead is in Vecchio Pellegrini hospital for injuries sustained to his hand. The other six wounded between Naples and the province were instead treated and already discharged in the early hours of the morning. One of them, a 30-year-old Camposano, in the eastern province of Naples, was also reported for violation of the curfew: in fact, he was slightly injured in the hand while picking up an unexploded firecracker in the street around 4 am. A 16-year-old man from Avellino province also arrived in Pellegrini: the young man, who lives in Solofra, was seriously injured by the explosion of a firecracker on the balcony of his house.

There were also fires caused by “celebrations” out of control. TO Trecase A carpentry shop caught fire, prompting several people living in the area to take to the streets, concerned about the flames. Same destination for an apartment in a condominium in Castellammare di Stabia, also in the Neapolitan area. In the Neapolitan capital, a fire touched the Aminei Hills, where a battery of fireworks was lit in a condominium park, which touched the plastic waste collection containers. The explosions, which lasted more than half an hour, threatened to ignite the flames but, fortunately, did not happen.
