The winter sales are underway which, due to the emergency situation caused by the pandemic, will move a billion less than last year, a total of 4 billion euros compared to 5.

According to Confcommercio accounts, more than 15.7 million families will buy and each person will spend about 111 euros. Start on dribbling and monotonous. The 2021 sales calendar has had to deal with restrictive holiday measures, thus lowering the start dates chosen by some regions of the red zone, so much so that Federmoda has called for a last-minute postponement.

In fact, the date has been set for January 2, in Basilicata, Valle d’Aosta and Molise. So, in practice, explains Confcommercio, it will be from January 7, the date of departure, for example, from Lombardy, Piedmont and Sicily, when real purchases can be made on sale. Umbria will start on the 9th, Lazio on the 12th, the Marches and the autonomous province of Bolzano on the 16th (non-tourist municipalities). Sales will arrive only at the end of the month, in Liguria, on the 29th and 30th in Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Veneto. In these latter regions, however, as in others, it was possible to carry out promotional sales already in the previous 30 days. Finally, to buy for sale in the tourist municipalities of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, it will be necessary to wait until February 13.

The duration will be variable: it ranges from 4 weeks in Tuscany, up to 2 months in different regions. “The Christmas Decree has also created new uncertainties in the start dates of the sales with a clear risk of further enriching the web giants, if they do not at least postpone the reopening of physical stores”, says Riccardo Borghi , president of Federmoda emphasizing however that balances “represent an important business engine for the economy and, above all, an opportunity for consumers.” “It is important, however, that Italy does not stop yet because a new blockade would represent irreparable damage to the fashion sector,” he says again, inviting citizens to make “zero kilometer and sustainable purchases in local stores” .

And as usual, also for this season, the sales have their label with the decalogue of the rules to follow, for merchants and customers.: the traditional ones – such as credit cards that must be accepted by the merchant; cashless payments that should be favored; the items that must show the normal price, the discount and the final price – e dictated by the pandemic: it is necessary to maintain a distance of one meter between the customers waiting inside and outside the store; and it is mandatory to disinfect your hands before touching the products and always wear a mask, even during dressing room rehearsals.
