In 2016, in the Brexit referendum, Scotland voted by a large majority to remain in the European Union. Since then, there has been a lot of talk about the possibility of a new referendum on the independence of the United Kingdom being organized in the country which, in the case of effective independence, would allow Scotland to rejoin the European Union.
