After the Epiphany, the colored hazard bands model will be restored throughout Italy. If almost the entire peninsula will move to the yellow area, there are three Regions, to date, to risk another color. Among these also Veneto, to date the territory with the highest Rt index.
What happens after January 6?
Until January 6 inclusive, therefore, Veneto will remain in the red area, then its position will be reconfigured, in all probability in the orange area, perhaps red. Yesterday the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza announced that throughout Italy the curfew will be maintained, restaurants and bars will close at 6 p.m. and the lockdown of swimming pools, gyms, cinemas, theaters, stadiums will be maintained. A first denial, this one, to the possibility of reopening some activities, safely, immediately after the end of the Christmas holidays.
The new ISS report: Veneto at risk
That’s not all: as Today reports, before habits, yesterday the draft of the report of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Iss) and the ministry was published in which there is no good news for the Regions. According to the data on the basis of which the regime of the yellow, orange and red zones is decided:
- the epidemic in Italy remains “still serious due to a high impact on welfare services”
- In the period from December 8 to 21, 2020, the average transmissibility index Rt calculated in symptomatic cases was equal to 0.93 (range 0.89 – 1.02), increasing slightly in the last three weeks
- three regions / PPAA (Veneto, Liguria, Calabria) have a point Rt greater than 1, therefore compatible with a type 2 scenario
- another 3 (Basilicata, Lombardia and Puglia) exceed it in the average value
- three others play it (Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Marche)
The type 2 scenario, in which Veneto would be found, evokes a “situation of sustained and generalized transmissibility but manageable by the health system in the short-medium term, with values of Rt in a systematic and significant way between Rt = 1 and Rt = 1.25. And in the draft of the control room of the ministry and the ISS it is said that in Veneto, Liguria and Calabria «this is of special concern and therefore it is urged to consider the application of the planned measures, to attributed risk levels And Veneto could also be the only region in Italy to be in the red zone at the end of the holidays.
