SITUATION. While an old disturbance persists in parts of the southern and far northeast regions into the last morning of the year, a new one is fast approaching Italy and it will put an end to the brief truce of stability that many regions are experiencing. Driven by a large low pressure circulation that occupies all of Europe, the disturbance in question comes from France and the first of our regions to reach will be the Northwest. Here the clouds will rise during the day and give rise to first snowfall in the western Alps and in pfrost rains in Levante Ligure and the upper part of Tuscany, then also in Sardinia. The step forward will be more incisive on New Year’s Day, but on New Year’s Eve snow will fall on the hills of the North Apennines and some flakes will reach the Northwest plains. But let’s see in detail how New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve will continue:
CLIMATE NEXT HOURS. A thick and some rain will persist in the Lower Tyrrhenian and in northern Sicily, particularly in Calabria, fading into the night. Phenomena that will be more frequent in the morning, involving Basilicata and with snow from 800m. The rest of the south-central regions will be brighter, especially in Abruzzo, but only temporary: the clouds will tend to intensify over the north-central regions of the Tyrrhenian with a resumption of some rains in Tuscany and western Sardinia. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms in Tuscany , especially north-central, and snow falling at night up to 500 / 700m in the Tuscan-Emilian mountains. In the north, the initial cleared but with patches of fog in the morning over the Po Valley, diminishing. Clouds that rise during the day starting from the Northwest, high and stratified in extension towards the East. At dusk, some snowfall in the western Alps and rain in east-central Liguria. During the night, the phenomena intensify in Liguria, some light snowfalls in the Piedmont plains, sometimes mixed with rain, some flakes in the plains also in the west of Emilia, some drizzles in Lombardy and the west of Veneto.
