The epic Brexi you are now one step away from completion. After the signature this morning by the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the Commission Ursula von der Leyen, on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 30, the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also signed. Now there is only one vote in the House of Commons, but it is highly unlikely that Labor will try to block the deal.
Johnson signs a Brexit deal
More than four years after the 2016 referendum, the UK is on the verge of definitively ending its adventure with the European Union. Following the approval of the trade agreement in the House, approved thanks to an overwhelming majority of 521 votes in favor and 73 against, it was signed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The agreement will become law overnight, after the second reading in the House of Commons. The deal will almost certainly go off without a hitch. Only one amendment from Labor is expected, but for the sole purpose of certifying the party’s formal opposition.
In a tweet, Johnson wrote that “by signing this agreement, we are fulfilling the sovereign desire of the British people to live under their own laws, made by their elected Parliament.”

The Brexit document was signed in Brussels in the morning, before being flown to London for the signature of the British Prime Minister.
Johnson refuses to admit there will be new barriers to trade with the EU
In a BBC interview, described as “strange” by The Guardian, Johnson refused to accept that this agreement will create new barriers to trade with the European Union. “The deal will allow the UK to do more business with the EU, because the UK will be able to do things differently, while there will be no barriers to trade with the EU,” Johnson said.
Cornered by interviewer Laura Kuenssberg, Johnson would later add that “there are already huge barriers to British services. There is no internal market for services in the EU ”.
An hour after the initials, Johnson spoke at a news conference on the coronavirus, without saying a word about the deal. The UK has reported more than 900 deaths today and could face a lockdown until April.
