LECCE – The number of swabs performed in the last 24 hours in Puglia doubles and the rate of positives between the tests performed and the positive cases registered is reduced by half, which today stands at 7.75 percent (compared to 15, 5 posted yesterday) in relation to 9,668 checks processed.
The president of the Puglia Region, Michele Emiliano, based on information from the director of the health promotion department, Vito Montanaro, has in fact communicated that today 9,668 tests have been registered for covid-19 infection and 749 have been registered positive cases. Therefore, the percentage of subjects who tested positive, almost eight positive swabs out of a hundred processed, has been halved compared to the number of tests performed, but to understand the general trend of slowing down or less of the epidemiological curve we have to wait for a comparison in at least the last seven days.
The number of people who died sadly, according to today’s regional bulletin, was 34 (yesterday it was 47). Of these, none in the provinces of Lecce and Brindisi, while eleven are attributable to the province of Bari, eight to the province of Bat, eleven to the province of Foggia, four to the province of Taranto.
The latest data from the regional report puts the number of current infected subjects in Puglia at 52,833, or 324 less than yesterday. The cases of positivity registered in the province of Lecce are today 59 compared to 86 yesterday. In the last hours there has also been an increase in infections in the municipality of Alessano, with at least fifteen new cases being examined by investigations and traced by the local health service. At the moment, the official data also held by municipal administrators and communicated by the prefecture and ASL indicate to Alessano nine currently positive and verified cases and 13 quarantines. Mayor Francesca Torsello however, he received reports of numerous additional positives, in rapid antigenic swabs, yet to be determined with confirmation of molecular testing.
On the other hand, 287 cases are registered in the province of Bari, 74 in the province of Brindisi, 81 in the province of Foggia, 126 in the province of Bat and 106 in the province of Taranto. Ten residents outside the region and six cases of residence not yet known.
According to the data reported by the bulletin today, the number of patients cured in the region is 32,572, another 1,039 more than yesterday. In relation to the cured and also to the deceased, the number of current positives drops slightly, which today has 52,833 active cases. There are 51,231 people in home isolation, almost 97 percent of those infected.
Since the beginning of the emergency, a total of 1,022,357 tests have been carried out to find out if the coronavirus is positive or not. Currently 1,602 (2.8 percent) patients are admitted to dedicated wards, forty-one less than yesterday. Of these, there are now 136 hospitalized in intensive care, with 55 new admissions today. The total of deaths amounts to 2,428. From the beginning of the pandemic to date, the total number of positive covid cases in Puglia was 87,833.
Swabs at the airport, no new cases of positivity
