The earth continues to shake: after yesterday’s tremors, at 12:19 p.m. today, Tuesday, December 29, the earthquake was felt throughout the northeast with an epicenter between 76 km and 47 km southeast of Zagreb, Croatia. The magnitude is 6.3. The shock was clearly felt throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia and also in part of Veneto: in Udine the movement of the earth was clearly felt. The Civil Protection of Friuli Venezia Giulioa has received hundreds of phone calls from alarmed people from all corners of the region.

There are no reports of problems of people or things in our territory, but in some places, especially in Venezia Giulia, citizens took to the streets after having felt the prolonged earthquake. The regional civil protection operations room is in contact with all municipalities while the four provincial fire brigade commands are on alert, but no emergency calls are being registered at the moment. However, inspections will be arranged to review older buildings.

“Our thinking goes with the populations affected by the earthquake that hit Croatia again with violence, adding disaster to pain in a time already marked by the pandemic.” This was declared by Debora Serracchiani and Senator Tatjana Rojc, an expression of the Slovenian community in Italy. Senator Rojc, personally contacting the Croatian diplomatic representation in Italy, said “My condolences for the victims and the wounded in the damaged cities. I hope that the aid reaches the severely damaged areas as soon as possible.
