Covid kills 29 other Tuscans, 42 more hospitalized

There are 181 new cases, but only 1,325 swabs were done. The highest number of new cases in the Local Health Authority of Northwest Tuscany

FLORENCE – In the last 24 hours in Tuscany, thanks to the days of celebration, only 1,325 swabs were made in suspected cases of Covid, thus identifying 181 new positives, the 13.7% of the total, distributed as follows among health agencies: 65 in the Central Local Health Authority, 83 in the Northwest, 33 in the Southeast. Also considering the salt control swabs in 3,674 tests, to which 503 antigenic swabs were added.

Unfortunately, the victims registered in 24 hours go back, today there are 29 compared to 8 yesterday, 18 men and 11 women with an average age of 79, distributed as follows between the provinces: 6 in Florence, 2 in Prato, 1 in Pistoia, 6 in Massa Carrara, 4 in Lucca, 5 in Pisa, 2 in Livorno, 2 in Arezzo, 1 resident outside of Tuscany. The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 3,617.

The new cured are 668 and bring the total to 105,064 (88.3% of 118,965 cases of infection in Tuscany).

Currently the positives for the new coronavirus are 10,284 today, 4.8% less than yesterday. Unfortunately, hospital admissions are increasing, today they are 1,054, 42 more than yesterday, of which 164 in intensive care (1 less).

Another 9,230 infected are isolated at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital treatment or are asymptomatic (558 fewer than yesterday).

On the other hand, there are 19,777 (134 less than yesterday) people, also isolated, under active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (ASL Center 5,238, Northwest 10,888, Southeast 3,651).

The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday:

– 33,173 cases in total to date in Florence (53 more than yesterday), 10,316 in Prato (8 more), 10,385 in Pistoia (2 more),

– 7,611 in Massa (15 more), 12,351 in Lucca (26 more), 16,576 in Pisa (18 more), 8,519 in Livorno (26 more),

– 10,474 in Arezzo (15 more), 4,858 in Siena (12 more), 4,147 in Grosseto (6 more).

Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 97.0 x 100,000 residents versus 119.2 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (197.0 x100,000), Florence (121.0 x100,000) and Pisa (99.0 x100,000), the lowest in Grosseto (39.7 x 100,000).
