NEW YEAR EVE. The low pressure zone that is occupying almost all of Europe in the last days of the year will continue to be active even in the first days of the year, due to the continuous influx of cold air from Arctic latitudes. It will be the engine of new and repeated disturbed journeys that will cross the continent and reach the Mediterranean latitudes, also involving Italy. Already from the early stages of 2021 we should wait for the passage of disturbances, one of which would seem correct on the day of New Year, with bad weather in the north and in the Tyrrhenian regions. The cold air at stake will also favor snowfall to low altitude in the Po Valley, even in the Northwest Plain.
UNSTABLE OR DISTURBED WEATHER EVEN IN THE EARLY DAYS OF 2021. In the first days of 2021, another minimum of secondary pressure seems to be looming, in this case in the central-western Mediterranean. From its center would come a disturbance responsible for a phase of bad weather in part of Italy that from New Year could also continue in the following days. The regions most at risk would once again be the Tyrrhenian and northern regions, with snowfall in the Alps and Apennines and locally at low altitudes in the northwest.
NEW DISTURBANCES UNTIL THE EPIPHANY. Apart from brief sunnier breaks between one front and another, new episodes of unstable or disturbed weather could be repeated until Epiphany, with cold weather and low snowfall, especially in the North. Given the time distance, the trend could change and we recommend that you follow the next updates.
