Among the 36 honorees is 24-year-old Giovannella Porzio of Turin. Suffering from the rare Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease that forced her to sit in a wheelchair since she was 10 years old, she is Italian and European vice champion of Paralympic dance. Always in love with dance, after high school she was able to fulfill her passion thanks to the “ Ballo Anch’io ” Association in Turin where she practices wheelchair dance. It is part of the Performer Group, which is the most advanced, made up of both people in wheelchairs and standing dancers. They offer shows and performances in theaters and events throughout Italy and participate in the championships of the Federation of Sports Dance.

The dream
