MASSA-CARRARA – In Tuscany there are 118,965 cases of positivity to the Coronavirus, 181 more than yesterday. New cases are 0.2% more than the total of the previous day. Those cured grew 0.6% and reached 105,064 (88.3% of all cases). The swabs performed reached 1,853,202, 3,674 more than yesterday, of which 4.9% were positive. On the other hand, 1,325 subjects were analyzed today (excluding control swabs), of which 13.7% were positive. To these are added the 503 rapid antigenic swabs that are currently being made. The current positives are 10,284 today, -4.8% compared to yesterday. There are 1,054 hospitalized (42 more than yesterday), of which 164 in intensive care (1 less).
Today there are 29 new deaths: 18 men and 11 women with an average age of 79.3 years. These are the data – verified at 12 noon today based on requests from the National Civil Protection – related to the advance of the epidemic in the region. The average age of 181 cases today is approximately 44 years (19% are under 20, 24% between 20 and 39, 29% between 40 and 59, 19% between 60 and 79, 9% have 80 years or older).
It should be remembered that as of 06/24/2020, the Ministry of Health has modified the data collection system on the spread of covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile.
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change from yesterday. There are 33,173 cases in total to date in Florence (53 more than yesterday), 10,316 in Prato (8 more), 10,385 in Pistoia (2 more), 7,611 in Massa-Carrara (15 more: Carrara 5, Massa 4, Aulla 4, Fivizzano 1, Fosdinovo 1), 12,351 in Lucca (26 more), 16,576 in Pisa (18 more), 8,519 in Livorno (26 more), 10,474 in Arezzo (15 more), 4,858 in Siena (12 more), 4,147 in Grosseto (6 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.
There are 65 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 83 in the Northwest, 33 in the Southeast. Tuscany ranks eleventh in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 3,190 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average of around 3,392 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The notification provinces with the highest rate are Prato with 4,003 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 3,956, Massa Carrara with 3,906, and the lowest Siena with 1,818.
In total, 9,230 people are isolated at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care or do not have symptoms (558 less than yesterday, less 5.7%). There are 19,777 (134 less than yesterday, less 0.7%) people, also isolated, in active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (ASL Center 5,238, Northwest 10,888, Southeast 3,651).
People admitted to beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 1,054 (42 more than yesterday, plus 4.2%), 164 in intensive care (1 less than yesterday, minus 0.6%). In total, there are 105,064 people cured (668 more than yesterday, plus 0.6%): 440 people clinically cured (28 fewer than yesterday, minus 6%), that is, they became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection and 104,624 (696 more than yesterday, more 0.7%) declared cured in all aspects, the so-called viral cures, with negative swab.
Unfortunately, today there are 29 new deaths: 18 men and 11 women with an average age of 79.3 years. Regarding the province of residence, the deceased are: 6 in Florence, 2 in Prato, 1 in Pistoia, 6 in Massa-Carrara (93-year-old woman, 84-year-old man, 86-year-old man, 80-year-old woman, 76-year-old woman and 88-year-old man), 4 in Lucca, 5 in Pisa, 2 in Livorno, 2 in Arezzo, 1 resident outside of Tuscany. SHe reiterates that it will be up to the Higher Institute of Health to definitively attribute the deaths to the Coronavirus: in fact, many times they are people who already had concomitant pathologies.
3,617 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 1,224 in Florence, 246 in Prato, 272 in Pistoia, 384 in Massa Carrara, 330 in Lucca, 415 in Pisa, 266 in Livorno, 216 in Arezzo, 122 in Siena , 88 in Grosseto, 54 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 97.0 x 100,000 residents versus 119.2 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa-Carrara (197.0 x100,000), Florence (121.0 x100,000) and Pisa (99.0 x100,000), the lowest in Grosseto (39.7 x100,000).
THE SITUATION IN ASL TNO HOSPITALS
Regarding hospitalizations for covid-19, in the Northwest Tuscany Usl hospitals there are a total of 309 (yesterday there were 311), of which 36 (the same number as yesterday) in intensive care. In Livorno hospital 57 patients, 8 of them in intensive care. In the Lucca hospital 57 patients, of which 8 in intensive care. 57 admitted to the Apuane hospital (-3 compared to yesterday), of which 12 were in intensive care (stable compared to yesterday). In the Versilia hospital 89 patients, 3 of them in intensive care. In the Pontedera hospital, 29 were hospitalized, of which 2 were in intensive care. In Cecina hospital 17 patients, 3 of them in intensive care. In Barga hospital 3 patients.
Finally, based on the daily monitoring, in the entire territory of the Northwest Tuscany Company Usl, to date (December 28) there are 10,888 (-15 compared to yesterday) people in quarantine for having had contact with infected people.
