The digital public function is born: a thousand young people will be trained to help citizens to do the Spid and use the IO app

In the age of digital identities and applications that give direct access to public services from the smartphone, “Digital civil service”Support those who have little confidence in new technologies. In an experimental way, from next year they will be 1000 young operators volunteers selected to fill the role of “digital facilitators”, with the task of guiding institutions and citizens in the use of new technologies. The memorandum of understanding signed on December 28 between the Minister of Technological Innovation and Digitization decreed the birth of the experimental program, Paola Pisano, and the Minister of Youth and Sports Policies, Vincenzo Spadafora.

The initiative is part of the objectives of the program “Digital Republic “, promoted by the minister to counteract the digital divide. Young people, reads a note, will be adequately trained to operate in the territory, in neighborhoods, in local communities and in public spaces organized to welcome and guide those who need support in the use of technologies. The public announcement of the presentation of intervention programs and projects for the digital public function will be addressed to the accredited bodies in theRegistry of the universal public function and posted at the beginning of the new year on the website of the Department of Youth Policy and Universal Civil Service. The organizations that join the initiative will follow a complementary training course led by the Department of Youth Policies and Universal Public Function and by the Department of Digital Transformation, which will assist organizations and volunteers in the development of experimentation.

“The girls and boys of the digital public function – said the minister Pisano – will undertake to help citizens, starting with the elderly and those less familiar with technologies, to obtain and use the new digital services of the Public Administration such as the Public Digital Identity System (Spid) or the “Yo” app to access public services from a mobile. It is above all the State’s job to ensure that no citizen is left behind, especially those who have the most difficulty using new digital services. If digitization does not concern everyone, how can one speak of a ‘digital revolution’? ”. On the other hand, the minister Spadafora explained that “during the confinement thousands of girls and boys made their technological skills available to help their family and friends to stay connected, despite the distances imposed by the pandemic, and to use the digital services of organizations, institutions, offices Associations was a spontaneous response that allowed many citizens less accustomed to using new technologies to make a digital leap in a short period of time. Pisano, which will allow a first experiment in 2021 of the digital public function, and which may be promoted in the near future also thanks to the Next generation EU ”.
