The Memorandum of Understanding between the Minister of Technological Innovation and Digitization Paola Pisano and the Minister of Youth and Sports Policies Vincenzo Spadafora signed today in Rome to start the Digital civil service in Italy.
The initiative aims to increase the digital skills and competences of citizens and encourage the use of digital public services in order to promote the full enjoyment of citizens’ rights, spread a conscious approach to digital reality and facilitate collaboration between the Public Administration, entities and citizens.
The project is part of the República Digital program promoted by Minister Pisano to
address the digital divide, also of a cultural nature, and fully responds to the main objective of the Civil Service supported by Minister Spadafora to invest in young people, their training and their role as active citizens.
1,000 volunteer workers will be employed with the role of “digital facilitators” during the first year of experimentation. Young people will be adequately trained to operate in the territory, in neighborhoods, in local communities and in public spaces organized to welcome and guide those who need support in the use of technologies.
“I firmly believe in the transition of technological skills from the younger and technological generations to the less digital ones. – said Minister Pisano –
And that is why I have dedicated myself since the beginning of my mandate to carry out this project. It is above all the task of the State to ensure that no citizen is left behind, especially those who have more difficulties to use the new digital services “.
The blockade has also pushed older people to use digital services, Minister Spadafora commented: “I am very happy with the Protocol signed with my colleague Minister Pisano, which will allow a first experiment in 2021 of the digital public function, and which will be better exploited in the near future thanks to the Next Generation EU plan”.
