Vaccine maker Pfizer-BioNtech explained that higher doses of the drug had already been tested in test subjects in the phase 1 study, with no serious consequences, according to Vorpommern-Rügen district health officials. A Pfizer-BioNtech spokesperson wanted to reassure the eight healthcare workers, explaining that the tests administered amounts of the drug up to 100 micrograms without serious consequences (the usual dose of a vaccine is 30 micrograms).

The eight employees of the Stralsund nursing home can rest easy: despite the “superdose” of the vaccine, the side effects will not be worrisome.
