The pandemic has not yet receded in Puglia. In the last 24 hours, the number of people hospitalized for Covid has risen to 1643: 45 more than yesterday. This increase had not been recorded for weeks. The reversal of a trend that until a few days ago was going in the opposite direction is evident. According to the data provided by the Region through the epidemiological bulletin, there are 645 new infections. Between yesterday (Sunday, December 27) and today, 4,147 swabs were processed, almost 3,000 more than the 1,748 registered on December 27, but in all probability, only from tomorrow will the laboratories work at full capacity again. The encouraging figure is that of those cured: even today more than a thousand (1,079, for a total of 31,533 since the start of the pandemic). The death toll, however, is decidedly negative: 47, of which four in the province of Brindisi.
The new cases are distributed as follows: 219 in the province of Bari, 30 in the province of Brindisi, 18 in the province of Bat, 269 in the province of Foggia, 86 in the province of Lecce, 16 in the province of Taranto, 4 residents outside the region, 3 cases from province of unknown residence. 47 deaths were recorded: 16 in the province of Bari, 1 in the province of Bat, 4 in the province of Brindisi, 18 in the province of Foggia, 3 in the province of Lecce, 5 in the province of Taranto. Since the beginning of the emergency, 1,012,689 tests have been performed: 31,533 patients recovered; 53,157 are currently positive cases.
The total of positive cases of Covid in Puglia is 87,084, divided as follows: 33,560 in the province of Bari; 9,960 in the province of Bat; 6,281 in the province of Brindisi; 19,381 in the province of Foggia; 6,781 in the province of Lecce; 10,536 in the province of Taranto; 501 attributed to residents outside the region; 84 province of unknown residence. The Asl Prevention Departments have activated all the procedures for the acquisition of anamnestic and epidemiological information, with the aim of tracing close contacts.

Hospitalizations in the Brindisi area
Currently, 65 people are hospitalized in the province of Brindisi, 2 less than yesterday, between the hospitals of Brindisi and Ostuni. The White City facility currently houses 4 patients in Internal Medicine and 13 in Pulmonology. Al Perrino, on the other hand, there are 18 patients in infectious diseases, 17 in pulmonology, 6 in internal medicine, 7 in resuscitation. Between yesterday and today four dead. A 91-year-old woman died in Ostuni in Pneumology and three men in Perrino: a 69-year-old patient and a 70-year-old patient in Intensive Care and an 88-year-old patient in Pneumology. The Post Covid welcomes 9 patients in Mesagne, 9 in Ceglie Messapica, 7 in Cisternino.
