Snow and accidents: a nightmare morning for Axis motorists

A complicated morning to say the least for the motorists who had to go to work on the Bergamo interurban axis.

The road, covered by the heavy snow that has fallen on the Bergamo area since Sunday afternoon, has been blocked since the early hours of the morning.

The first reports came from the Bonate Sopra area, where a truck slipped and stopped sideways shortly after the tunnel from San Roberto to Bergamo blocked the passage of cars for hours: but at this moment there are still motorists stuck in traffic , exhausted and cold.

Even in the opposite direction, the situation was no better: long lines also formed in the area of the Bergamo motorway junction and in Orio al Serio. Motorists who report having traveled a maximum of 2 to 300 meters in three hours, and even then the situation seems to be far from resolved. Incidents were reported in both directions, not serious but that contributed significantly to aggravating the situation.

Even on the highway the situation is critical: there are queues at the Caquate exit towards Milan for a damaged vehicle, while in Dalmine for the same reason towards Bergamo the exit is closed. In Bergamo there is heavy traffic at the exit, both for those coming from Brescia and for those coming from Milan, which forced the closure of the exits, as well as in Seriate with closed tolls in both directions.

Several temporary blackouts in the province: Dalmine, Trescore, San Paolo d’Argon, Urgnano.
