On Sunday, Tennessee Middle District Attorney Donald Cochran said the man responsible for the Nashville Christmas Day blast had been identified. Cochran explained that it is a man named Anthony Warner, whose remains were found at the scene of the explosion. Warner is the only person to be killed in the blast, which injured three other people, destroyed a building and damaged dozens of buildings and businesses.
Warner was 63 years old, working as a computer scientist in the Nashville area, and he owned the motorhome that exploded on Christmas Day. The FBI had cited Warner as a possible suspect on Saturday, when he was first identified as the owner of a mobile home similar to the one that exploded in Nashville. Warner was later identified by DNA analysis of the remains found at the scene of the explosion, making Warner solely responsible for the FBI.
At the moment there is no information that can explain why Warner decided to commit suicide and cause such a violent and dangerous explosion. One of the buildings most damaged by the explosion was a technical center for the telecommunications company AT&T, which relied on telephone and internet connections in much of the state. One hypothesis is that this was the purpose of the explosion. Investigators also reconstructed that shortly before the caravan-mounted speakers exploded, a strange message had started that included a warning of the impending explosion.
