MASSA-CARRARA – In Tuscany there are 118,784 cases of positivity to the coronavirus, 227 more than yesterday. New cases are 0.2% more than the total of the previous day. Those cured grew by 0.3% and reached 104,396 (87.9% of all cases). The swabs made reached 1,849,528, 3,502 more than yesterday, of which 6.5% positive. On the other hand, 1,549 subjects evaluated today (excluding control swabs), of which 14.7% were positive. To these are added the 226 rapid antigenic swabs that are currently being made. Current positives are 10,800 today, -0.7% compared to yesterday. There are 1,012 hospitalized (21 more than yesterday), of which 165 in intensive care (1 less).
Today there are 8 new deaths: 3 men and 5 women with an average age of 79.9 years. These are the data – verified at 12 noon today based on requests from the National Civil Protection – related to the advance of the epidemic in the region. The average age of the 227 cases at present is around 50 years (12% are under 20, 21% between 20 and 39, 32% between 40 and 59, 25% between 60 and 79, 10% age 80 or older).
It should be remembered that as of 06/24/2020, the Ministry of Health has modified the data collection system on the spread of Covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile.
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change from yesterday. There are 33,120 cases in total to date in Florence (85 more than yesterday), 10,308 in Prato (17 more), 10,383 in Pistoia (8 more), 7,596 in Massa-Carrara (5 more: Carrara 1, Massa 3, Fosdinovo 1), 12,325 in Lucca (18 more), 16,558 in Pisa (28 more), 8,493 in Livorno (9 more), 10,459 in Arezzo (31 more), 4,846 in Siena (19 more), 4,141 in Grosseto (7 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.
There are 114 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 56 in the Northwest, 57 in the Southeast. Tuscany ranks 11th in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with approximately 3,185 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average of approximately 3,378 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The notification provinces with the highest rate are Prato with 4,000 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 3,951, Massa-Carrara with 3,898, the lowest Siena with 1,814.
In total, 9,788 people are isolated at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care or do not have symptoms (99 less than yesterday, less 1%). There are 19,911 (696 fewer than yesterday, less 3.4%) people, also isolated, in active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 5,311, Northwest 10,903, Southeast 3,697). The people admitted to beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 1,012 (21 more than yesterday, plus 2.1%), 165 in intensive care (1 less than yesterday, minus 0.6%).
In total there are 104,396 people cured (297 more than yesterday, more 0.3%): 468 clinically cured people (19 more than yesterday, more 4.2%), that is, they became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with Infection and 103,928 ( 278 more than yesterday, plus 0.3%) declared cured in all aspects, the so-called viral cures, with negative swab.
Unfortunately, today there are 8 new deaths: 3 men and 5 women with an average age of 79.9 years. Regarding the province of residence, the deceased are: 2 in Prato, 1 in Pistoia, 2 in Lucca, 1 in Pisa, 1 in Livorno, 1 in Arezzo. 3,588 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 1,218 in Florence, 244 in Prato, 271 in Pistoia, 378 in Massa-Carrara, 326 in Lucca, 410 in Pisa, 264 in Livorno, 214 in Arezzo, 122 in Siena, 88 in Grosseto, 53 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region. It is reiterated that it will be up to the Higher Institute of Health to definitively attribute the deaths to the Coronavirus: in fact, many times they are people who already had comorbidities.
The Tuscan crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for covid-19 is 96.2 x 100 000 residents compared to 118.7 x 100 000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (194.0 x100,000), Florence (120.4 x100,000) and Pisa (97.8 x100,000), the lowest in Grosseto (39.7 x 100,000).
THE SITUATION IN ASL TNO HOSPITALS
Regarding hospitalizations for covid-19, in the Northwest Tuscany Usl hospitals there are a total of 311 (yesterday there were 319), of which 36 (the same number as yesterday) in intensive care. 55 patients were admitted to the Livorno hospital, 9 of whom were in intensive care. 55 patients are admitted to the Lucca hospital, 7 of whom are in intensive care. In the Apuane hospital 60 hospitalized (-1 compared to yesterday), of which 12 were in intensive care (+1 compared to yesterday). In the Versilia hospital 89 patients, 3 of them in intensive care. In the Pontedera hospital, 29 were hospitalized, of which 2 were in intensive care. In the Cecina hospital 20 patients, 3 of them in intensive care. In Barga hospital 3 patients.
Finally, from the daily monitoring throughout the USL territory of Northwest Tuscany, to date (December 27) there are 10,903 (-158 compared to the previous update) people in quarantine because they have had contact with infected people .
