It was 11:47 in the morning when Dr. Massimo Geraci, head of the Emergency Service at the Hospital Cívico de Palermo, received his dose of the anti-Covid vaccine.

“I’m not used to being the center of attention – said the doctor, the first Sicilian to have inoculated a dose of vaccine -, but the message of hope today must reach all health professionals and citizens, because in the anti-Covid vaccine we have placed our hopes to overcome this moment ”.

The vax day also begins today in all of Italy: Sicily left the pavilion 24 of the Civic Hospital of Palermo, with the first administrations of the anti-Covid Pfizer vaccine. In this first phase in Sicily there will be a total of 685 people who will be subjected to the vaccine, as of next January 4 we will proceed as established by the national plan that has outlined the objective.

Today it was the turn of nine representatives of the Order of physicians (one for each province), five general practitioners, five free-choice pediatricians, five care continuity physicians and 10 representatives of 118 (among doctors, nurses and lifeguards).

In addition, three representatives from Ismett, three from the Giglio di Cefalù Foundation and 15 employees of Arnas Civico were vaccinated.

This morning 30 older people who are part of the RSA will also be vaccinated. In the following days and until December 30, 10 representatives of each Sicilian health authority will arrive at all the administration centers of the city of Palermo to receive the vaccine.

This morning at the Civic Region President Nello Musumeci, Health Councilor Ruggero Razza and Palermo Mayor Leoluca Orlando were also present for the vaccinations.
