Ski resorts may not open on January 7. At the beginning of the new year, the Scientific Technical Committee will evaluate the possibility of resuming activities on the slopes, based on the progress of coronavirus infections.
On the rules that will apply to ski resorts, experts are already working with local administrations. The Cts has read the protocol presented by the Regions and suggested changes in particular indicating limitations to elevators.

The comments, expressed in the minutes of the December 24 meeting, were received by the governors, who as of next week must deliver the revised guidelines.
The perplexities about the document presented refer mainly to the overcrowding of the ski lifts: for the CTS, in fact, cable cars and cable cars represent a context of medium-high risk, greater at peak hours, similar to the means of public transport.

Hence the indication to make the protocol more consistent with the band division required by current legislation. The resumption of skiing activities in areas with lower epidemiological risk must be authorized.
“With a view to its next reopening, which in any case must be preceded by a preliminary reassessment of the epidemiological situation,” the CTS writes in the minutes, “it is necessary to emphasize that the proposed measures can only be applied in cases where the epidemiological tendency to Regional or Autonomous Province level is compatible with the risk classification in the so-called yellow zone“.

At the ski lifts, the CTS provides precise indications: “An occupation in the 100% of seatsand, with the obligation to wear the surgical or community mask and the prohibition to lower the windbreaker hood where it is present.
In case of worsening meteorological conditions that imply the reduction of any windproof warning, the CTS recommends that “the capacity reduction to 50% also for chair lifts, without prejudice to the obligation to wear the mask during the entire transport ”.

The CTS also points out that the protocol lacks “provisions regarding flow management for the control of the ski pass or other types of access tickets.”
