Murder in Macerata, relatives locked in the hotel: “It was a robbery, we have nothing to do with it”

Montecassiano (Macerata), December 27, 2020 – “Was a theft”. Enrico and Arianna Orazi and Enea Simonetti confirm their versionrespectively, the husband, daughter and grandson of Rosina Cassetti, 78, murdered at her home in Montecassiano on Christmas Eve afternoon. The three were investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office – the daughter accused of murder, the husband and the nephew for complicity – but without giving up they repeat that they did not kill the old woman. For a long time (about 18 hours), both immediately after the discovery of the lifeless body of the old woman on the kitchen floor, in her villa in via Pertini, both on Christmas day, they were questioned in the barracks by the deputy prosecutor Vincenzo Carusi and the carabinieri of the Operations Department, but the three did not hesitate to repeat that that afternoon a stranger dressed in dark had entered their house, that he had immobilized and locked Enrico Orazi in the bathroom, slapped , and also tied up his daughter Arianna, to escape with a thousand or two thousand euros. Later, his grandson Aeneas returned and freed his mother and grandfather and, with them, discovered his grandmother’s corpse in the kitchen. Their versions have been analyzed in detail by the military, who also immediately detected some inconsistencies, but the three have not taken a step back.

Even a relative of his, who was called to the barracks, the three suspects repeated the same version: it was a robbery. The grandson, the last to arrive home on the afternoon of December 24 and find his mother and grandfather tied up and his grandmother dead, only at the end of Christmas afternoon, when he went from being an informed to an investigator, decided to do I use the right not to answer. The three suspects also learned that -according to numerous testimonies collected- Rosina complained of the mistreatment she suffered at home, but they reduced it, ensuring that things were not at all as she claimed.

At the time, Rosina Cassetti’s husband, daughter and nephew are barricaded in a hotel waiting for their house, which was seized – after surveys carried out by the department specialized in scientific research – to be returned to them, and waiting for the power to return the body of the deceased in order to arrange the funeral.
