The National Order of Biologists has published the informed consent form for the coronavirus vaccine manufactured by Pfizer-Biontech.
The document establishes that every vaccinated person must declare that they have been:
Correctly informed and with clear words, I understand the benefits and risks of vaccination, the therapeutic modalities and alternatives, as well as the consequences of any refusal or refusal to complete the vaccination with the second dose.
The information note explains that “the vaccine induces our body to activate a protective mechanism (such as the production of antibodies) capable of preventing the virus responsible for COVID-19 from entering our cells and of therefore, prevent the onset of the disease“.
In addition, it is explained that “it may take up to 7 days after the second dose of the vaccine to develop protection against COVID-19.”
You cannot get COVID-19 disease as a result of
administration of the vaccine, the document explains, because inoculated mRNA cannot induce virus replication.
The vaccine “may not fully protect everyone who receives it,” since “the efficacy estimated by clinical trials (after two doses of the vaccine) is 95% and it could be lower in people with immune problems ”.
Conversely, adverse reactions (which may affect up to 1 in 10 patients) could include: pain, redness, swelling at the injection site, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, chills, joint pain, fever.
Less common reactions, which may affect up to 1 in 100 people, may include swollen lymph nodes.
Among the rare reactions, some serious allergic reactions have been reported after administration of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine during mass vaccination, outside of clinical studies.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction include:
• hives (bumps on the skin that are often
pruritic);
• swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;
• Difficulty breathing.
Finally, the document specifies that in case of symptoms of an allergic reaction, you should immediately consult your doctor or go to the first aid services.
