In the last 24 hours in Trentino there have been another 5 victims of Covid, and the total amounts to 962 deaths since the start of the pandemic (plus the 109 reconsidered as Covid, for deaths in the RSA in March and April).
But what is always worrying is the situation in hospitals, which continues to worsen. Even if there is one less patient in “high intensity” resuscitation (today there are 48), the number of patients in “high intensity” increases by 5 and those of infectious diseases by 20. In total, only 4 discharges have been registered in the last hours, but 32 new hospitalizations. An alarming figure and in contrast to last week.
Yesterday, Christmas Day, 1,442 swabs were run, allowing for the discovery of 68 new positive for molecular swabs and 18 for antigen tests, as well as 56 confirmations of previous molecular tests.
The positivity rate (ratio between tests performed and those found positive) in Trentino is 8.6% considering only swabs and increases to 8.9% with antigen tests. More or less in line with the national average.

Also today, Boxing Day, the provincial working group met to analyze the data related to the infection but above all to define the details of the first administration of the covid-19 vaccine that is scheduled for tomorrow throughout the country. In Trentino, as soon as the special packages arrive, they will be distributed in the Santa Chiara hospitals in Trento and then in Rovereto, Arco, Borgo, Cavalese, Cles and Tione. In the territories we will report on the hospitals, as many RSAs have been identified for a total of 14 administration points.
But let’s go to the data provided today by the provincial health services company.
The positive cases verified with the molecular swab are 68, while 18 cases were positive for the rapid test. The molecular test then confirmed 56 positivity intercepted in the last days by the antigenic swabs.
Of the new positives, 26 are asymptomatic and another 38 are symptomatic: all are followed at home.
Today there is only one case of very young children (1 positive between 3-5 years) while those over seventy are 25.
In the school setting, 17 classes are still in quarantine while another 6 cases of school-age children are being investigated.
On the other hand, patients with covid in the hospital are growing again and this is because only 4 discharges were registered yesterday, compared to 32 new hospitalizations. The total, therefore, is 379 hospitalized patients of which 48 are in resuscitation.
Even today there are 5 deaths, almost all in hospital (4). They are 3 women and 2 men. The youngest victim was 73 years old, while the oldest was 93.
The new cures are 186 for a total of 18,254.
A final figure refers to the swabs: 1,442 molecular swabs were analyzed yesterday, all in the Microbiology laboratory of the Santa Chiara hospital in Trento, while 140 quick swabs were reported to the company.
