From August to December 25: the numbers of the pandemic in Sardinia

CAGLIARI. From zero deaths in August, there were 134 deaths from Covid on the island in the first wave, up to the figure of 700 surpassed with yesterday’s update on December 25. With the months of November and December in which Sardinia also experienced a strong rebound in cases, deaths and hospitalizations in intensive care, with several days in which new infections exceeded 400 and even 500.

These are the numbers for the last months of the pandemic in Sardinia. With the 409 new cases of yesterday, December 25, the percentage resulting from the relationship between positives and the number of tests carried out in Sardinia has increased by more than 10 percent. With three deaths, we are now at 702 deaths on the island from Covid, while the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic is 29,876.

At the beginning of December, the infected were 21,895 and the dead 449. Making a comparison with the previous months, as of August, these are the numbers. On August 1, the total number of cases was 1,410, the deaths were 134, that day the new positives were 6. Moving on to the following month, on September 1, the total number of cases was 2,243, the deaths were 134, so for the entire month August no deaths were recorded. At the beginning of October 3,996, the total number of people infected since the start of the pandemic, 155 deaths, on November 1, on the other hand, was 9,830 cases (399 new positives were registered that day) and 234 deaths.

Intensive care: 68 patients were hospitalized on December 1, and since the beginning of November we were 43, on October 1, 20, 6 hospitalized on September 1. Finally, going back to the beginning of August, the situation was optimal as there were no hospitalized patients in intensive care. Now, in Covid hospitals in Sardinia, there are 43 patients in intensive care.
