The van containing the first 9,750 doses of Pfizer-Biontech’s anti-Covid vaccine bound for Italy arrived at the Tor di Quinto barracks in Rome, escorted by police cars. Tomorrow the truck will leave the carabinieri barracks in Tor di Quinto and arrive at the Spallanzani where the doses will be divided into boxes that will then be delivered to the military. Some vehicles will depart for destinations that can be reached by land within a radius of 300 kilometers, others will go to the Pratica di Mare military airport where the remaining doses will be addressed by airplanes for other destinations. The distribution will be the responsibility of the Defense. When the administration points go from 300 to 1500 and the mass vaccination campaign begins, it is assumed between the end of January and the beginning of February, that it will become the logistical heart of the distribution.
Day V Sunday
The first phase of distribution will be in view of the European V-Day on Sunday. For this operation, Defense with the Air Force, Army and Navy will come into play for Operation Eos. The expectation of the turning point is in the words of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. “It will be a different Christmas – he says – but the development of vaccines and their launch soon are more than a sign of hope for all of us.” According to the prime minister, the goal “is to get 10 to 15 million vaccinated citizens to have a significant impact. We should arrive in April.”
