With a message posted on the Napoli website, President Aurelio De Laurentiis sent a Christmas greeting to all Neapolitan fans. This is the full letter:
“Dear Napoli and Azzurri fans,
My Christmas greetings this year are different from the festive and relaxing atmosphere of recent years, but they are even more heartfelt and felt precisely because of the delicate moment that we are living.
It is a special Christmas, lived under duress and the health emergency that has trapped us for months. In these moments of so much difficulty, but also imbued with spiritual depth, I feel virtually and intimately at your side, locked in an ideal chain of great human solidarity.
My thoughts are with those who are fighting this virus, with those who are in intensive care, with the doctors who are on the front lines in this battle and with those who will not be able to hug their loved ones these days. And especially to those who have left us, victims of this subtle and terrible pandemic.
The hope is that this period characterized by faith and recollection can bring comfort to all families, restoring that serenity that we so much need.
Football is a great engine that can give an emotional and social boost, so that the future can smile at us again.
My wish is for a gradual rebirth in the name of optimism and confidence in a new horizon which, for us Neapolitans, can be painted more and more a radiant blue.
