There is a new death and a particularly high rate of positivity in the daily Christmas Eve bulletin published by Asrem about the coronavirus emergency in Molise. It is the result of 68 new cases compared to 472 swabs. Instead, 34 recovered and 3 were hospitalized and discharged. Our region also ranks second in Italy with the highest Rt index, only behind Veneto.

Unfortunately, even today our region has a victim, number 179 since the beginning of the epidemic. An 83-year-old man from Campobasso who was hospitalized for infectious diseases lost his life at Cardarelli hospital.
EQUAL ACCOUNT BETWEEN ADMISSIONS AND RESIGNATIONS
Identical number of patients admitted and discharged today, December 24. Three patients needed treatment in the Infectious Diseases department of Cardarelli: they are from Campobasso, Petacciato and Castel Del Giudice. Graduates from the Campobassano hospital like many people: in this case they are from Bojano, Rotello and Santa Croce di Magliano. According to the Asrem bulletin, 59 are hospitalized in Cardarelli with Covid-19. In ICU there are 7, while in Infectious Diseases 52.
FEW BUFFERS, HIGH POSITIVITY RATE. EXPANSION FROM SANT’ELIA TO PIANISI
Only 472 swabs have been processed in these hours. About half of what has been processed in the last few days. As with the good holidays, the Christmas holidays also represent an opportunity to give the medical staff of the Cardarelli hospital a break of rest. Of these, 68 tested positive for a positivity rate of 14.4%.
Most of today’s positives come from Sant’Elia to Pianisi, where the outbreak has spread to several dozen people (yesterday 23). Today alone, 25 new cases have been confirmed.
It continues to stand out in Campobasso with 9 new infections (yesterday 37), followed by Termoli and Trivento with 4 positives. We continue in the order of 2 cases in Fornelli, San Martino in Pensilis and Venafro.
In Molise yesterday 115 cases emerged against 1,111 swabs processed, with a positive rate of 10.3%.
OTHER 34 MOLISANS DEFEAT THE VIRUS
34 people are reported to have recovered from covid-19. Six of them are from Isernia, four instead of Campomarino, two are cured in Campobasso and the same number in Cercemaggiore, Santa Croce di Magliano, Vinchiaturo.
MOLISE HAS THE SECOND HIGHEST RT INDEX IN ITALY
Unfortunately, our region is second in Italy for the Sars-Cov-2 coronavirus transmissibility index. This was revealed by Silvio Brusaferro, president of the Higher Institute of Health, in the usual meeting with the press that took place today, in reference to the analysis of the week that runs from December 14 to 20. In particular, Molise posted an Rt index of 1.02, only lower than Veneto’s, which instead stood at 1.1.
However, Molise is not among the regions considered high risk, unlike Veneto itself, as well as the Marches, Puglia, Umbria and Liguria. Molise is still at moderate risk.
According to Brusaferro, we are facing a slight uptrend in Italy as the Rt index has risen from 0.86 to 0.90 today.
NATIONAL DATA
According to the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health, 18,040 new coronavirus infections emerged today in Italy with 193,777 swabs processed (positive rate of 9.3%). The ceiling of 2 million cases has been broken since the beginning of the epidemic. Yesterday there were 14,522 new coronavirus cases compared to 175,364 swabs and a positive rate of 8.3%.
In the last 24 deaths there were 505 (yesterday 553). Intensive care patients decreased by 35 units (yesterday -63) and ordinary hospitalizations with Covid-19 decreased by 476 (yesterday -402).
