The car that was seen sinking in the waters of the Adige on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 23, was recovered shortly before 7:00 p.m., on Christmas Eve. Inside the bodies of two people were found. The investigations were closed around a mother and son of Rovereto, aged 69 and 27, of whom the relatives would not have news since 3.30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23.

Throughout the night of Wednesday, December 23, firefighters and police forces with inflatable boats and helicopters had patrolled the river without finding any traces. The searches resumed at dawn, and on the afternoon of Thursday, December 24, divers from the Speleological-Fluvial Nucleus spotted a car underwater.

The car was found in the waters of the Adige near Isera, just downstream from the only point at which it was conceivable that it could fall: a few meters of embankment without a railing. Investigations into the causes that led to the sinking of the car with the two people on board are still continuing.
